Recently, in response to questions in the Chamber of Representatives about the maintenance of the road network, Mr. Baraka stated that a road map has been put in place to maintain the roads by modernizing national roads, maintaining regional and provincial roads, and adapting the road network to traffic needs. He mentioned that a reclassification operation of roads is currently underway, as many national roads do not meet the required standards and others are not wide enough.

Mr. Baraka highlighted the importance of this operation by citing an example in the region of Al Haouz, which was affected by an earthquake. He mentioned that the widening of national road N°7 from 4 meters to 7.5 meters has already begun as part of this maintenance effort. Additionally, he revealed that a budget specifically allocated for the maintenance of rural roads spanning 500 km has been included in the 2024 budget for the first time.

According to Nizar Baraka, approximately 64% of the roads are in good or excellent condition, showcasing the effectiveness of the maintenance efforts. This underscores the importance of continuous upkeep and modernization of the road network to ensure safe and efficient travel for all road users.
