Al Ahly, the defending champion, continues on its path towards a possible victory, its 12th in the CAF Champions League. As of now, they have just secured their spot in their 20th semi-final by defeating Simba 2-0 in the second leg match played in Cairo this Friday, after already winning the first leg 0-1 in Dar Es Salaam.
In the semi-finals, Al Ahly will face the winner of the quarter-final match between TP Mazembe and Atlético Petroleos.
Mamelodi Sundowns have also booked their place in the semi-finals by defeating Young Africans on penalties with a score of 3-2 after a second goalless draw. They will face the winner of the quarter-final match between ASEC and Espérance.
